I try to go outside my comfort zone and try things I think that are “way too cool for me.” The neckerchief may not be on everyone’s list of “cool” items, but I am extremely intrigued by them. After scoping out Pinterest one night (ha! real life moments), I decided I wanted to try and take a stab at it. I really wanted to go the whole striped shirt, red scarf = effortlessly cool Eurpoean girl route, but since I didn’t have the scarf, I went for preppy J.Crew slash “in honor of the flight attendant.” I tried to modernize with a bar necklace, updated pearls, and a bright lip.

I used to think I didn’t like pastels. Not sure why. Maybe that they washed me out, or that they were too sweet or boring. But now, I really do love them. I have a love affair with blush pink and a soft spot for periwinkle. Don’t get me wrong- I still love me some jewel tones, but I now really appreciate the soft sophisticated feel that a good pastel can bring. This swingy skirt (that I’m sure everyone is tired of seeing.. #sorry) continues to pull through as a go-to for almost every outfit I come up with in the mornings. I picked up this scarf from LOFT on a super sale and it adds a fun touch of color that weirdly goes with everything. Who knew light blue was a neutral of sorts? Not I. I tied the camel together with coordinating top + shoes and topped it off with some extra sparkly jewelry to draw some attention upward and tie it all together. I was obsessed with my make up all day and had an easy glow with a pink lip that was fresh and pulled together. (PS don’t mind my brows – they hadn’t been done yet. You know.)
I love the new Beauty Counter product that I have! The Tint Skin Foundation goes on smooth and is light, easy to wear and lasts all day without suffocating your skin (big win in this Texas heat!) I am planning a big post that just highlights my new Beauty Counter products, so stay tuned. I just couldn’t wait to show off a couple of glimpses of how amazing this product looks on the skin! Until then, go check out the site (ps it’s beyond beautiful! <3) and get yourself some beautiful new makeup at my Online Social.
July 26, 2014; the day that I married my college sweetheart and will forever be my most favorite day of the year. Today, July 26, 2015 is our one year anniversary and what a year it has been! I always hear that the first year of marriage is the hardest, and I have mixed feelings about that statement. I think that this year has been the greatest learning experiences of my life. DJ and I got engaged in October of our senior year of college and married the July after. We graduated May 2014 and I immediately moved to Dallas for work and DJ didn’t follow until we got back from our honeymoon. He is now a full-time law student and I work full time, so there has been lots of transition from the easy, breezy college regiment of late nights and more flexible work schedules. So while the adjustment phase of marriage is hard, it has also been the most amazing journey. I never feel alone, I know there is always someone at home waiting to make my day better and I always have someone to support me. Plus, he always keeps me laughing and that is so essential to a wonderful life. This year was made extra hard by some personal health problems and the passing of my beloved grandmother, Shirley. They say “for better, for worse” but I feel bad that DJ got “for worse” so quickly. Going through that has made me so grateful for the love that DJ gives me everyday. This post has just a fraction of the photos we have from that day and I look at them all the time, for they bring me unbridled happiness and joy. I hope you love them as much as I do.
Hands in the air if you love when your work clothes end up being super comfortable without trying! (The inner me that envies the Lululemon sales employees rejoices!) This ensemble kind of happened on accident one morning when I just pulled some of my current favorites together. I love boyfriend jeans (hello acceptable in public eating pants) and these from J. Crew are staple in my wardrobe. I paired them with a sleeveless knit top from Zara in a perfect camel color that I wear with everything. To make it more work appropriate, I threw on my go to scarf and absolute fave shoes for a polished, but easy look. Confession- I want to wear this outfit to everything & I don’t care who knows it. Sometimes basics are better. #hairflip
My mom and I love arts and crafts days, festivals and farmer’s markets. We recently took a trip to Weatherford, TX for the Parker County Peach Festival that happens one Saturday a year. Thanks to all the rain, the peaches this year are a dream and we had the best time! I’m still obsessing over this peach sangria from Sweet Springs Winery. We stopped for a break at this local winery and it did not disappoint. This peach sangira is the epitome of a summer drink and I truly wish I could have one on the regs. I went casual for this trip but tried to add some sass with milkmaid braids and a bright pink lipstick! (Psstt! Bright lips make it easy to to do a natural face with less make up and less sweat damage while still looking put together + chic!)
